In Year 8 (Key Stage 3), students aged 12-13 build on the mathematical concepts introduced in Year 7, deepening their understanding and preparing for more advanced topics in Year 9 and Key Stage 4 (GCSEs). The Year 8 maths curriculum focuses on developing fluency, reasoning, and problem-solving skills across key mathematical areas, including number, algebra, geometry, and statistics.
The curriculum covers key mathematical strands such as Linear Equations, Statistical measures, Area and Volume, Percentages, Polygons and constructions.
Formative Assessments: Ongoing classwork, quizzes, and homework to assess understanding of each topic. With regular feedback and progress updates, you will always know how your child is progressing.
Problem Solving and Reasoning: Throughout the course, students will be encouraged to develop their problem-solving skills and mathematical reasoning, applying their knowledge in real-life contexts.
We use Google Classroom for homework and for additional support.
Support for Struggling Students: Differentiated activities and extra practice to help students who need additional support can be found here.
Extension for High Achievers: More challenging problems or investigations to deepen understanding for students who are excelling their knowledge can be found here.
There is a maximum of 4 pupils in one class. Fun and interactive lessons have been meticulously created to keep pupils engaged. Pupils are also able to interact using a monitored online whiteboard.
Lessons run in accordance with the UK school timetable proposed by the Department for Education.
