In Year 7 (Key Stage 3), students are typically 11-12 years old and begin their secondary school mathematics journey. The Year 7 maths curriculum focuses on building a strong foundation in key mathematical concepts, as students transition from the basics learned in primary school to more advanced topics. The emphasis is on fluency in basic operations, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving across several key areas.
The curriculum covers key mathematical strands such as Number, Ratio and Proportions, Algebra, Geometry and Measures.
Formative Assessments: Ongoing classwork, quizzes, and homework to assess understanding of each topic. With regular feedback and progress updates, you will always know how your child is progressing.
Problem Solving and Reasoning: Throughout the course, students will be encouraged to develop their problem-solving skills and mathematical reasoning, applying their knowledge in real-life contexts.
We use Google Classroom for homework and for additional support
Support for Struggling Students: Differentiated activities and extra practice to help students who need additional support can be found here.
Extension for High Achievers: More challenging problems or investigations to deepen understanding for students who are excelling their knowledge in real-life contexts can be found here.
There is a maximum of 6 pupils in one class. Fun and interactive lessons have been meticulously created to keep pupils engaged. Pupils are also able to interact using a monitored online whiteboard.
Lessons run in accordance with the UK school timetable proposed by the Department for Education.
